Dear Pete Stark,

I recently saw your comments as reported by CNN.com's political ticker on Oct. 18, 2007. It seems that on the floor of the U.S. Congress you opined that our troops were being sent to Iraq to, "get their heads blown off for the President's amusement." It seems pathetic that a man of your respectable position is in need of being reminded that our troops are volunteers, participants in Operation Iraqi Freedom of their own free will and not by force or coercion (much unlike participants of Social Security or the socialist health care system you undoubtedly support).
In light of this fact, I find it highly unlikely that any of them are willingly sacrificing their lives, "for the president's amusement." I also know without a shadow of doubt that my best friend in college did not die for this most asinine of reasons. What you did was to blatantly misrepresent his motivation, beliefs, and final actions on this Earth.
In closing I am left with two question; one which I may look up as soon as I depart, and another which may remain unanswered forever. 1. Did you, Mr. Starks, vote for the Iraq war resolution along with many of your Democratic compatriots? and 2. How is it that such bitterness towards the president can run so deep that it would cause even an obvious fool such as yourself to belittle the most noble of actions?

Sincerely, the Right Ringer
